BETH SALMON RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLOR
I didn’t start out wanting to become a therapist! It took me a while to realise that this was my vocation.
But I did start out inordinately curious about people – individuals, couples and families, what makes them tick and what makes them so very different one from the other. So I studied Anthropology at university and learned about many exotic and far flung peoples and their customs.
Then I had to earn a living so I went into Market Research – this allowed me to study the habits of everyday people and how they made choices.
Later I specialised in the more psychological side wondering what sub-conscious aspects might lie beneath everyday activities.
I started to study psychology and in particular psycho-analysis and psycho-therapy, and made my way to London Marriage Guidance where I started to see clients.
I completed my Diploma in Couple Counselling in 1996 and went on to the more advanced Diploma in Psycho-sexual Therapy in 1997.
In 2013 I obtained the Professional Diploma “Treatment of Sex Addiction and Compulsivity” awarded by ATSAC
In 2016 I graduated from the Tavistock Relationship course “Couple Therapy for Depression” which is a high-intensity evidence-based treatment developed in consultation with NICE. As such it is one of the most effective approaches to couple treatment.
I worked at Cambridge Relate from 1998 until 2015, and have worked in Suffolk as a Relate Licensed Counsellor since 2014.
If you feel I might be the right therapist for you please get in touch.
